DriveTech joins Association of Fleet Professionals

DriveTech has become the latest organisation to join the recently formed Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP), helping to drive road risk management best practice within the fleet industry.

Colin Paterson, head of marketing at DriveTech, said becoming a member of the AFP made absolute sense for the organisation, particularly at the current juncture, due to the rapid rate of change across the fleet landscape and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

He said: “We pride ourselves on taking a lead position within the fleet driver risk management market and wish to lend our voice to the organisation’s activities. By working with other organisations across fleet, we believe that we can more effectively handle the many issues that we, as an industry, are facing at this moment in time.”

Paterson added that the company also believed the pandemic had made co-operation and collaboration across the sector more important than ever before.

He continued: “We are keen to not only contribute to the AFP at a member level but to lend our expertise in areas where we have what we believe to be market-leading knowledge, contributing towards important debates on policies and action surrounding occupational travel risk, driver health and wellbeing and corporate compliance.”

The tie-up will also see Emma Loveday (pictured), commercial development manager at DriveTech, become involved at a committee level, as part of the AFP’s Risk, Compliance and Health Committee, which is chaired by Martin Evans of Jaama.

AFP chair Paul Hollick said the association had seen very high interest from organisations wanting to join since being formed in March from the merging of the Association of Car Fleet Operators (ACFO) and the Institute of Car Fleet Management (ICFM).

“Since March, we’ve had over 75 new members come on board who had no links with ACFO or the ICFM and we are very pleased to see that DriveTech is one of them. They have an excellent reputation across the fleet sector for their risk management expertise.

“Our intention in forming the AFP was very much to create a forum where the fleet sector could speak with one voice, and many companies want to be part of that project,” he outlined.

Both fleet operators and fleet industry firms can also now sign up to the AFP online, via its new website – www.theafp.co.uk. Fleet Operator Corporate Membership is available at £299 while Fleet Service Support Membership is available at four levels: bronze at £299 and providing one employee membership, silver at £500 with two employee memberships; gold at £1,000 with four employee memberships; and platinum at £2,000 with unlimited memberships.

Benefits are tailored to suit the type of corporate membership level chosen and include discounts on employee training for operators, the ability to provide company information on the AFP website, and opportunities for corporate promotions during AFP webinars and other events.
