Europcar answers charity plea for emergency vehicles

Europcar Mobility Group UK has stepped in to provide free-of-charge emergency vehicles to a charity in Scotland seeing increased demand during the coronavirus crisis.

The non-profit making charity, which is entirely run by volunteers, provides out-of-hours emergency transport services to NHS Scotland, delivering medical supplies and emergency equipment to hospitals and patients.

As a result of the pandemic, the charity has seen fast-rising demand and put out a plea on social media for help, initially with three cars, which Europcar responded to

The vehicles have been supplied free of charge as part of Europcar’s ‘Together’ programme to support key workers and retailers. In the UK, Europcar Mobility Group has made thousands of vehicles available from £5 per day to emergency services staff, from NHS workers and the armed forces, to social care workers and those working in education and childcare.

Jim Harley, chairman of LifeSavers Scotland, said: “Lifesavers volunteers are happy to help our NHS as we have done for the last seven years. With the help of Europcar Mobility Group UK we have been able to expand operations and continue to make a difference at this very difficult time. We have upscaled before, but these are unprecedented times and it wouldn’t have been possible without companies like Europcar Mobility Group UK. We would like to thank the Europcar Mobility Group UK team who have worked to provide this support for the NHS and the Scottish community.”
