Europcar Mobility Group lends support to Doncaster flood recovery efforts

The Europcar Vans Sheffield Supersite is helping critical disaster recovery work in Doncaster following the devasting flood of 2019.

The site has provided a long wheelbase van to Doncaster Rotary Clubs, which have been supporting the Doncaster Flood Recovery Project, including through ongoing work to move furniture, equipment and other materials for the residents and businesses affected.

Stuart Smith, the project and logistics coordinator for the Doncaster Rotary Clubs’ ongoing support within the Doncaster Flood Recovery Project, explained: “The floods of 2019 were devastating, but the support of the local community for the residents and businesses affected has been heart-warming. A number of organisations have been assisting us with the loan of vehicles over the last few months. But at the end of January we found ourselves without a vehicle as the projects to reinstate people and businesses continue. We were, therefore, delighted when the team at Europcar’s Sheffield Supersite offered their support.”

The Rotary Clubs’ ‘safe’n’dry’ project is helping the 378 uninsured residents gain access to the correct support, allowing them to safely dry out, rebuild and refurnish their homes. The Doncaster Rotary Clubs are also sourcing, managing and running a warehouse for the continued donation support from the public and corporate donors.

“The areas in which we are supporting residents include Fishlake, Bentley and the wider surrounding areas of Doncaster,” added Stuart Smith. “And we desperately required a vehicle to assist with our ongoing efforts allowing us to travel between these locations as well as being able to collect and deliver ongoing donations.”

Stuart Russell, sales director commercial vehicles, Europcar Mobility Group UK, added: “Each of the Europcar Vans Supersites has a focus on supporting its local community so it made complete sense to us to help out the Doncaster Rotary Clubs in their time of need.”
