Geotab named as Cenex-LCV event sponsor

Global fleet telematics specialist Geotab has been named as the sponsor of this September’s Cenex-LCV event.

Taking place in Millbrook, Bedfordshire on 4-5 September 2019 alongside the Cenex-Connected Automated Mobility event, the Cenex-LCV low carbon vehicle event – now in its 12th year – will once again spotlight the latest low-emission developments, through areas including a technology exhibition, seminar programme, ride and drives and networking opportunities.

The 2019 event will bring three ‘streams’, two of which cover Low Carbon Vehicle (LCV) technology and market themes including LCV propulsion technologies, ULEV Policy and Battery Safety and Legislation.

The third stream focuses on Energy for Transport including themes such as Consumers and Smart Charging and the Vehicle-to-Grid business case, with Geotab included as one of the presenters on the topic and highlighting the firm’s work on helping fleets to go electric, in line with the UK Government’s ‘Road to Zero’ strategy.

This includes Geotab’s Electric Vehicle Suitability Assessment (EVSA), which helps address the primary concerns of moving to electric. The EVSA uses telematics data to explore vehicle characteristics and recommends best-fit EVs for fleets, based on EV availability, range requirements, operational costs, and carbon reduction.

Geotab’s platform also offers fleets the ability to monitor EV operations in one place, along with their other vehicles. Reports on charging activities include:

  • Real-time state of charge.
  • Live map positions to identify who needs to charge and who is actively charging.
  • Create custom EV rules such as assign ‘no-charge time’ rules for a fleet to eliminate charging during peak times.
