Honda announces pricing and spec for HR-V Sport

Honda has revealed pricing and specifications for the Sport version of its HR-V SUV.

Launching some eight months after the standard model, the new stand-alone Sport grade arrives in April and brings a bespoke driving set-up and styling along with extra equipment.

Under the bonnet is the 182hp turbocharged 1.5 VTEC engine introduced from the latest-generation Honda Civic and bringing higher power than the previous petrol and diesel units – as with the standard HR-V, the Sport no longer offers diesel. It’s married up with either a manual gearbox or optional CVT and delivers a 0-62mph time of 7.8 seconds and a top speed of 134mph. Economy is rated at 47.1mpg (WLTP) and 137g/km (NEDC Correlated) for the CVT with figures of 47.9mpg and 135g/km for the manual model.

Both versions feature bespoke suspension and ‘Performance Damper’ tuning, alongside variable ratio electric power-assisted rack-and-pinion system and Honda Agile Handling Assist technology.

Exterior design changes including a bespoke black chrome detailing plus a slim front splitter, side skirts, wheel arch mouldings and a specific rear bumper design. LED headlights, indicators and daytime running lights are equipped as standard, and the tail lights are enhanced with a dark ‘smoked’ effect and black inner bars.

The interior gets exclusive combi seats in black and dark red part-leather combined with black roof lining,

As with the rest of the HR-V range, the Honda Sensing suite of safety features comes as standard and includes collision mitigation braking system, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control and traffic sign recognition. Honda Connect with Garmin navigation, seven-inch touchscreen display and internet browsing capability is fitted as standard.

Pricing starts from £27,595 for the manual transmission and £28,845 for the CVT.
