Lukas Neckermann provides insight on path of future mobility at Europcar event

Renowned mobility expert, advisor, strategist and author Lukas Neckermann gave fleets an insight into the latest developments on mobility at a recent Europcar customer event.

Held at The Ivy in London, the event saw Neckermann talk about the current mobility landscape; from the impact of congestion, to the future of car ownership and growing prevalence of multi-modal transportation.

In particular, the event highlighted how the growing changes in mobility, such as the shift away from ownership towards usership, play a part in today’s business drivers and how companies can adapt.

Neckermann – a regular keynote speaker on mobility – discussed his ‘three zeros’ philosophy, which covers zero emissions, zero accidents, zero ownership, explaining how mobility has changed over the years and sharing his thoughts on where it will lead in the future. His talk was followed by a Q&A session where guests had the chance to ask his views on specific topics.

One of the attendees, Andrew Johnston, business development director, BT Fleet said of the event: “It was a fascinating lecture from Lukas Neckermann on where our industry is going in the next few years with regards to mobility, electrification and safety.  I believe there will be a space for us all to operate, however the rules and indeed the field in which we operate is changing rapidly and engaging with people like Lukas enables us to have clarity on the journey in front of us.”

Another attendee, Simon Gray, head of fleet at Scottish & Southern Energy, commented: “An excellent event which delivered some very thought-provoking and interesting topics to consider, as we drive our own alternative fuel strategies forwards. As a smaller intimate event with like-minded attendees, it created relevant questions and information and, at times some debate, within the room and to take away.”

Gary Smith, managing director at Europcar Mobility Group UK, added: “We are at a pivotal time of change in the world of business mobility and our event was designed to provide a forum for debate on the key issues our clients are facing. As one of the leading visionaries within sector, Lukas spoke in depth about the current challenges and the changing future of car ownership. We also had the opportunity to discuss how Europcar Mobility Group UK can help customers find a mobility option to best match their needs.”
