Reworked Nissan Micra gets new engine and extra kit

The updated Nissan Micra goes on sale this month, bringing a new petrol engine and increased equipment.

Priced from £13,995, the 2021 Micra now comes with just one engine: a Euro 6D-compliant turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol that replaces the previous petrol and diesel units. Economy and performance figures are yet to be announced but it’s said to offer improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions along with greater driving performance due to enhanced torque delivery.

The current trim line-up of Visia, Acenta, N-Sport and Tekna is being carried over but with extra kit on higher-grade models. The N-Sport – initially a special edition but since made permanent – puts special focus on design and includes gloss black front, rear and side finishers and black mirror caps along with 17-inch black alloys. LED headlamps are now standard alongside LED fog lamps and the interior gets Alcantara inserts on the seat and ergonomic features.

The Tekna remains focused on in-car entertainment technology and advanced driving features, and gets the Intelligent Around View Monitor camera system as standard, along with Bose Personal audio and the NissanConnect infotainment system with TomTom navigation – available as an option on Acenta and N-Sport.

Apple CarPlay with Siri voice recognition and Android Auto with Google Assistant are available as standard from Acenta upwards with a host of additional in-car entertainment features.

Standard driver assistance technologies include Hill Start Assist, Intelligent Ride Control and Intelligent Trace Control for improved handling in difficult conditions.
