Show of strength: GBFE members make presence felt at 2019 CV Show

This year’s Commercial Vehicle Show saw 14 members of the Great British Fleet Event exhibit their latest products and solutions. Natalie Middleton looks at some of the highlights.

An unmissable event on the fleet calendar – along with the Great British Fleet Event, the Commercial Vehicle Show once more provided a vital venue for fleet manufacturers and service firms to showcase their latest solutions.

This includes Great British Fleet Event – which was there with a stand to support its members ahead of the 2020 show.

In fact, over the three-day CV Show, a total of 14 members of the Great British Fleet Event were present – with strong results having been reported.

This includes Selsia, which made its debut at the event with a stunning 20-meter stand and said the show proved to be a success beyond expectations. The firm promoted its approved and audited national network of heavy commercial and specialist bodied vehicle repairers – which draws upon the firm’s many years of specialism

Neil Marcus, Selsia’s marketing director, said: “This is the first time we’ve attended the Commercial Vehicle Show and the sales leads and interest we received for centrally managing commercial vehicle accident repairs was unbelievable. I believe this is testimony to our professional network of heavy commercial repairers who are dedicated and focused on fast, comprehensive and safe repairs. The other bonus for our network is that the interest came from companies with not just heavy commercials on the fleet but with cars and vans as well.  We’ll certainly be back next year.”

Marcus added: “We now have in the region of over 100 genuine sales leads to follow up which for us, was the highlight! Not only did the show work for us in attracting new customers, it was good to welcome some of our existing fleet clients to the stand as well.”

GBFE member Chevin was also present at the CV Show, using the event to showcase the benefits of its FleetWave products to both existing and future clients. The firm said the show provided an opportunity to demonstrate both recent updates to FleetWave and our new technician app, the Workshop Hub. This app reduces the administrative tasks associated with a workshop to help increase technician productivity.

Licence Check also returned to the CV Show and showcased DAVIS Fleet File’s new accident management feature, which enables fleet managers to record any vehicle-related incidents (including vehicle damage, insurance claim details etc) whilst assigning the accident to increase the accuracy of a driver’s risk profile.

As already shown at the 2019 Great British Fleet Event, carrying out live demonstrations of DAVIS, in particular the licence checking service, always brings visitors to the stand. Visitors are able to see their licence check results on screen within seconds, demonstrating just how quick and simple the service is.

Licence Check added that its latest onboarding method, ‘On-Site’ was particularly popular at the show as it removes the need for drivers to sign a mandate or E-Approval and instead provides a pin code (sent to a mobile phone) which authorises access to his/her driving licence record. Feedback was extremely positive given that there is no more waiting for drivers to respond – permission is gained instantly!

Geotab was also at the show and revealed its recently announced GeoTach solution: a remote downloading system for tachographs. Officially available through the Geotab Marketplace, GeoTach by Evestel is a complete solution for helping fleets automate the way they manage vehicle and driver data.

Alongside GeoTach, Geotab also showcased its leading electric vehicle (EV) expertise. In addition to offering EV compatibility through the Geotab GO device, the firm uses data to navigate different electrification challenges. This can take the form of optimising electric range through fuel efficiency measurement, reporting on charging activities, or using real-time information to help managers make decisions about their fleets.

And Teletrac Navman also attended the event. Peter Millichap, UK marketing director, said:

“The CV show was a fantastic networking opportunity for us and we engaged with numerous partners and prospective customers throughout the event. Interestingly, a lot of the customers we spoke to were looking for a certain level of support during the implementation process, to ensure they would get the greatest ROI if they invested in one of our solutions. It was great that we were able to reassure them that we have our own in-house Professional Services team, whereby our consultants can create a plan to get our solutions running in line with each customer’s specific goals. We’ll look forward to following up with leads in the coming weeks, and we’ll look forward to next year.”

Other GBFE members at the show included Vision Express, Jaama, the BVRLA, ProVision, Verizon Connect, BP Chargemaster, Trakm8 and the RAC.

With the 2019 CV Show now officially finished for another year, it means the next date on the fleet calendar is the 2020 Great British Fleet Event, which takes place on 30 January next year at the Novotel London West.
