Tailored parking solutions could support high streets and key workers

New developments in tailored parking solutions could help restart high streets while enabling councils to support key workers.

With many local authorities now looking at providing tailored inclusive solutions for different types of users – while also offering reduced contact touchpoints – cashless parking provider RingGo has launched a new inclusive payment service that adds a retail option. Introduced alongside to existing app and web payment capabilities, it provides an additional touch-free option that enables drivers to pay for their parking in a retail shop.

This tackles concerns over the potential social exclusion of the switch to a digital society and means that motorists can pay touch free with a payment card or cash in shops if they prefer or if they don’t have a smartphone.

The solution will be available for use nationwide in over 400 towns and cities at over 27,000 independent retail outlets and is available to all RingGo’s local authority and private parking operators.

RingGo has also launched a new Health Worker permit solution that enables approved NHS workers to get a discount on parking. It’s already in use with the four NHS Health Trusts in Westminster under a partnership with Westminster City Council.

RingGo has also been working to re-configure parking zones where parking restrictions have changed or been suspending, helping councils and customers.

Peter O’Driscoll, RingGo’s CEO, said: “As the country begins to reopen, our local authority and parking operator partners have been moving to touch free parking more than ever, but they are also conscious of making it accessible for all motorists. It is our mission to make this a reality. We’re working around the clock to help our partners implement these changes and inform the public of the benefits and ease of use.”
