Drivetech trainer Ian Kitching has taken the title of Frontline Hero of the Year at the 2024 UKROEd awards.
The accolade recognises individuals who have demonstrated an outstanding contribution to their field.
Kitching was recognised for his outstanding contribution to road safety and his dedication to trainer guidance and mentoring. His colleagues said he was an exceptional individual, regarded as a role model by all who work in road safety.
UKROEd (UK Road Offender Education) is a not-for-profit organisation focused on the education of drivers who commit minor offences. It conducts management and administration of the National Driver Offender Education Scheme (NDORS) and courses on behalf of the police service.
Kitching is a trainer for NDORS and Drivetech. Over the course of his 11 years with Drivetech, he has been dedicated to improving road safety and changing the behaviour of road users.
Alongside his work delivering, instructing and quality checking the courses, Kitching has also been a crucial member of the Drivetech trainer support team for the last four years, providing valuable assistance for course provision, trainer welfare and mentoring.
“I am honoured to be named Frontline Hero of the Year. This award is a testament to the hard work and determination of our entire team, who I have had the pleasure of working alongside for many years.” said Kitching.
Nick Butler, managing director of Drivetech, commented: “Despite facing life-changing illness, Ian continues to demonstrate remarkable resilience. His dedication to the trainers is unmatched.
“With a wealth of experience and knowledge accumulated over a successful career, he remains a role model and a source of inspiration for trainers and colleagues alike. It is a privilege for the team to know and work alongside him.”
