E-Car Club has deployed an electric vehicle club for East Herts District Council – with local drivers able to use vehicles out of hours.
Three Renault Zoe hatchbacks are based at the East Hertfordshire District Council offices and two at The Causeway Car Park in Bishop’s Stortford, with employees benefiting from dedicated access during work hours while the vehicles can be booked by residents during the week (18:00-08:30) and anytime at the weekends.
The vehicles feature an RFID card access system, enabling them to be booked online (or via the E-Car Club mobile app) at a cost of £6.50 per hour, or £60 for 24 hours, including insurance. Minimum booking time is one hour.
The Zoes are fitted with a 40KwH battery, giving them an average range of 120-150 miles per charge, and form part of the council’s work to support the East Herts green travel plan to reduce single occupancy car commuting, as well as improve traffic congestion and air quality levels throughout the district.
Patrick Cresswell, managing director at E-Car Club – which is part of Europcar Mobility Group, said: “Working alongside East Hertfordshire District Council, we believe that uptake of the scheme will be popular, especially younger residents facing soaring car insurance premiums at the moment.
“The whole community is set to benefit, either by becoming members and being able to sell their expensive private cars, or at the very least enjoying the reduced congestion and air pollution from those who have.”
E-Car Club is currently running an introductory offer of free lifetime membership (normally £50) and a £15 driving credit. To take advantage of this promotion, enter code: EHDC519 into the Promotional Code Field when signing up.
