MG has recorded its best month in the UK on the back of a 169% increase in registrations.
The rise in September saw a total 3,668 units registered, bucking the overall 4.4% decline in total UK new car sales.
And despite car sales across the UK being down by 33.2% for the year to date, MG has reported a rise here. For the first nine months of 2020, the brand’s sales were up by 52.1% year-on-year at 14,228 cars, with almost a third of the volume attributed to the zero-emission ZS EV.
In fact, MG broke its annual sales record in September with the 13,076th MG sold for the year, taking the brand over its 2019 sales total with more than a quarter of the year left to go.
The growth comes as MG launches two models – its MG5 EV and the HS Plug-in, the brand’s first PHEV. It’s also planning to expand its current 112-strong dealer network before the end of 2020.
