Cashless parking company RingGo is working with Oxfordshire County Council to bring cashless parking in two park and ride car parks.
Located on the outskirts of the city, the Oxford Parkway and Thornhill car parks have more than 2,000 spaces and the addition of the new RingGo cashless service – already used by Oxford City Council for three of its park and ride car parks – is expected to further encourage drivers to park out of the city.
County Councillor Yvonne Constance, Cabinet member for Environment, said: “We want to encourage people to visit Oxford, with less congestion and parking hassle, and take their time enjoying the city.
“RingGo already provides quick, easy cashless parking on the city council park and ride car parks and with the new management arrangements with the city it makes sense to use the same service at Oxford Parkway and Thornhill too.”
Peter O’Driscoll, UK country manager, RingGo, said: “We have such a history of operating within Oxford, so it’s great to expand our work to cover the county’s facilities too. We expect a dramatic increase in cashless uptake in these two new parking areas now that RingGo has taken over from the existing provider. Over 70% of regular parkers across the UK are familiar with RingGo, having used it somewhere around the country, so we expect them to use it here too.”
RingGo also provides bespoke park and ride solutions for other councils including Cambridgeshire, Portsmouth and Winchester.
