Telematics specialist Samsara has introduced a new Eco-Driving Report to help fleets pinpoint exactly which employees are driving inefficiently while providing them with insight to incentivise good behaviour.
An overall Eco-Driving score aggregates a number for each fleet based on seven different criteria; this can then be used by operators to establish goals and help drivers understand efficiency best practices.
Areas monitored cover everything from idling to speeding, cruise control and coasting, and poor anticipation events. The data can then be used to coach drivers on efficient driving behaviour, understanding them how to improve their score while also enabling fleets to evaluate the impact of coaching.
Users can also tailor the weighted score to reflect the metrics that matter most to their particular fleet.
The tool has already helped transportation operator AW Jenkinson, an existing Samsara customer, to reduce costs and emissions.
“Samsara’s Eco-Driving features support us to coach and train our drivers on the importance of fuel efficiency which allows us to save on fuel costs for our business,” said Daniel Coleman, fleet support and transport manager.
