Route optimisation and fleet scheduling specialist The Algorithm People will be showcasing its solutions at this month’s Great British Fleet Event.
Founded in 2018 by a team with decades of experience in fleet management software, the business helps commerical vehicle operators to reduce costs, cut emissions and increase vehicle utilisation.
Basic route planners will only produce a route for each vehicle after planners have already allocated jobs and loads. The Algorithm People’s optimisation has been designed to deliver far higher efficiencies by allocating and scheduling all deliveries and collections in the most efficient way for the entire fleet. More efficient planning translates into a substantial reduction in total fleet mileage, as well as far more accurate estimated times of arrivals.
CEO Colin Ferguson said: “By looking holistically at a fleet’s operations, our algorithms are able to deliver overall savings of up to 30%. This makes logistics and delivery companies much more competitive, while also drastically reducing their emissions.”
The Algorithm People also specialises in optimising electric light commercial vehicles (LCVs) as part of a wider fleet. The company’s software enables operators to easily identify which existing routes and vehicles could be electrified. Once the electric LCVs are deployed, the business ensures that they are used to maximise the economic and environmental return on investment.
The firm’s solutions will come under the spotlight at the 2020 Great British Fleet Event, which takes place on 30 January at Novotel London West in Hammersmith and combines Masterclass conferences and an exhibition with the Great British Fleet Awards, which celebrate the best of corporate mobility in the UK.
In addition, Dan Jenkins, head of PR & marketing at The Algorithm People, and who has been involved in the electric vehicle industry since 2005, will deliver a presentation on EVs as part of the Masterclass conference.
