Fleet adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) is on the rise, begins Geotab in its latest white paper that focuses on fleets wishing to make the switch to EVs.
The new white paper by Geotab – provider of telematics solutions focused on data analysis – starts from the very beginning of the process, with a hypothetical single vehicle proposed to be changed to electric power. Just three questions can help fleets get on their way to adopting EVs, the white paper states: what is the maximum range that the vehicle completes; what are the current costs for running the vehicle; and where will it dwell and for how long?
Fortunately, Geotab’s electric vehicle suitability assessment (EVSA) aims to answer these and other questions, evaluating your current fleet and creating a multi-year procurement plan to help electrify it. The purpose of the EVSA is simply to make sure the best-fit EVs are put to use and avoiding putting a vehicle that doesn’t work for a fleet into use in the first place.
The white paper goes on to discuss the merits of electric vehicle fleet management and the differences between it and a traditional fleet, as well as the differences it makes in monetary and environmental terms regarding the true cost of running a plug-in hybrid vehicle without plugging in, compared to plugging in.
